A Brief History
St. Thomas' began as a Sunday School and then store - front mission in 1889. The name St. Thomas' was adopted in 1897. The congregation worshipped on Field Street, first in School 35 of the city of Rochester and then in a newly built church from 1902 until 1929. In 1929, the cornerstone was laid for our present location at the corner of Highland Avenue and Winton Roads. Bordering the city of Rochester and the Town of Brighton, our location is emblematic of our state of mind. At present the parish draws members from the neighborhood, the city of Rochester and Monroe, Wayne, and Ontario Counties.
